Cocktail & Foodie Fundraiser in Celebration of Editor, John Heckathorn’s Decadent Life

This past December the Hawaii media community lost an amazing writer, teacher and close friend when Editor, John Heckathorn passed away.  This upcoming Sunday, April 15th, from 6 pm to midnight the Hawaii Chapter of the United States Bartender’s Guild is holding a fundraiser at Apartment 3.

According to USBG Hawaii Chapter President David Newman, “The fundraiser is a memorial cocktail mixer to celebrate the life of the late John Heckathorn.  John did so much for the restaurant and bar scene in Hawaii that we wanted to do something to show our appreciation for what he dedicated his life to. We will be making three of John’s favorite cocktails that evening and donating 100% of the proceeds and tips from those as well as anything raised from our silent auction to setting up a scholarship fund at HPU in John’s name.”

We at CitySip loved John so much and want to encourage and promote USBG Hawaii’s efforts as much as we can.  This is a fundraising event that’s not to be missed by any local foodie and cocktail connoisseur. In addition to attending, USBG is actively seeking silent auction items. Though, the event is this Sunday so time is short!

If you would like to donate anything in John’s name please e-mail us at

Ultimately, we at CitySip encourage you to come to the event as it is open to the public and should be a ton of fun.  Here’s the link to the events Facebook page.  Hope to see you there.
