Last week CitySip co-hosted a multi-day pop-up art event, Outlaw Art Show, with the 2ft12inches crew at WhiteBox Gallery. The urban art expo was more like a mixed media event with the Grand Opening featuring the screening of indy hit film ‘Downtown Calling’, the following night premiered a short film called ‘In the Cups’ to a crowd comprised of film and media industry select and throughout the event, guests enjoyed revolving DJ sets by NY’s hottest spinsters including Robert Aloia who also co-founded 2ft12inches and curated the show along with Frankie Cedano, Brent Bartley and Laksmi Hedemark.
The cocktail beat to this you ask? Well, CitySip happily hosted the bars all four-nights, kicking off with Enzo Lim of Maharlika for the soft-opening. A twist on the Gimlet, Lim’s sip called the Laffite Gimlet featured Brooklyn Gin, house-made Cardamom syrup and lime-juice. It was refreshing and an ideal liquid entrée into the next few days. The following night for the madness that was the Grand Opening (we’re talking 1000 plus people in attendance and a line around the block!) Tomas Delos Reyes of The Top of the Standard mixed up the Run & Gun which incorporated more Brooklyn Gin, Domaine de Canton, Grapefruit, honey syrup, Angostura bitters and soda. And, Rachel Ford of Ford Mixology Lab and Monkey Bar too served up the Fool’s Paradise, a smooth and sweet concoction of Angostura Rum, lemon, grapefruit, tropical infused honey and Angostura Bitters. If that weren’t enough to tickle patrons taste-buds, Fred Antonucci was poured Ilegal Mezcal shots while I popped open Cristalino Cava Brut til we all ran dry and had to make a 9 p.m. call for more!
Beat and bubbled, shot and tippled over one too many, we still had room for the next night’s crowd and respective cocktail appetites. More bar stars were in tow with Moses Laboy of Red Rooster Harlem and Kyle Ford of Crown Bar (also the second half of Ford Mixology Lab) mixing up gingery sips a la Domaine de Canton. Laboy offered up the Small’s Paradise (not to be confused with the aforementioned Fool’s) that blended Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur, FAIR Quinoa Vodka, fresh mint and lemon juice and Ford crafted the Old Guard which was mixed with Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur, Pear Cider Shrub, lime juice and St. George Absinthe.
Phew..yes an, arty, haute-scene boozy, beat-filled long weekend it was. We can’t wait til the next 2ft12inches collaboration come Spring. If interested in learning more or attending the next e-mail us here!
